THE STORY OF HANUMAN'S STRENGTH
A fierce battle started between Rama and Ravana. Rama was supported by his brother, and the whole monkey force. One day, Indrajith sent an arrow which hit Lakshmana, and he fell unconscious. Rama ran to his side. He was heart broken to see Lakshmana lying still, covered in blood, "My poor brother Lakshmana! What has happened to you? Please open your eyes! I cannot lose you!" Rama cried frantically.
Vibishana saw this, and being such a good man, brought their physician Sushena during the night to examine Lakshmana. After examining Lakshmana Sushena said, "My Lord, I can bring him back to life with the help of the herb Sanjeevani! But the herb can be found only in a faraway mountain!"
Now again the question was - who could bring the herb in time to heal Lakshmana's wounds?
Again Jambavanta the wise bear reminded, "Hanuman, only you have the power to bring the Sanjeevani herb here in time!"
Hanuman wasted no time! He leapt towards the mountain. After flying for some time, he reached the mountain. The mountain was completely covered with plants of all sizes and shapes. "Oh! What does the Sanjeevani herb look like?" Hanuman was puzzled.
He knew that he couldn't waste any more time. He was so immensely strong and powerful that he lifted and held the whole mountain aloft. Then, he started flying back to Lanka!.
Sushena, the physician found the herb easily, and as soon as he dropped the juice of the plant on Lakshmana's lips, he woke up, as if from a deep sleep. Everyone, was overjoyed! Rama hugged Hanuman, and thanked him! But Hanuman merely said, "I shall do anything for you, My Lord!".
