Guna was the smallest goose of the family. Everyone protected him so much that he became a scared little goose.
One day Guna got lost in the fields nearby. All the geese were very worried. They wanted to go in search of him at once.
But Grandma Goose knew that deep inside everyone, there is courage. She said, “Wait for a while! Let Guna be alone. He will learn some important lessons. He will come back fine. If he does not come back in a few hours, we will go and find him.”
Guna was very scared at first. Suddenly he heard a roaring sound. He began to shiver, and stuck his head inside a bush. Then he remembered Grandma Goose telling him, “There is no use in hiding. Face what you are afraid of!”
Guna slowly looked up, and he gave a little squeal. There in front, was a large demon with long arms and a huge head. Guna was about to faint. Again, he remembered Grandma Goose saying, “You are not a scared little goose! You are Guna, the brave. You can face it!” He slowly moved forward and forward, closer and closer to the demon.
Then Guna began to giggle. When he had gone very close, he saw that it was not a demon but a huge, crooked tree! And what was the roaring sound he heard? It was the sound of the wind blowing through the tree! Guna did a little jig of joy and relief. He then turned round and waddled back to the farm.
The geese were overjoyed to see him but he had eyes only for Grandma Goose. He gave her a special hug and said, “You were right, Granny! The fear was only inside my head. I chased it away. From now on, whenever it comes, I can face it and chase it!” Grandma Goose smiled and said, “I know you can!”
